According to what I've read somwhere in this forum, flickering lights in the conning tower at first, and then the control room, is an indicator that you're pushing it too far. From what you said about dividing Crash Depth with 1.4, I'd say it's pretty consistent with what I'm getting in my modified Balao: Crash Depth is set to 240, at roughly 170 meters (go figure, 240/1.4=171!) I get a "We're diving too deep, sir" message, and at the same time the lights start to flicker on and off at the Conning Tower.
