I've seen this discussed before in these forums, but, evidently I'm not getting it.

Playing TM-1.6.5 with a modded version of RSRDC over it and a Gar class boat. Using Silent 3ditor, I opened \Data\Submarine\NSS_Tambor\NSS_Tambor.zon, looked up the "crash depth" and found it to be 162 (meters ?). So 162 X 3.2808 = 531.5 ft. So, took her down to 425' and started flooding ! What am I missing ? I'm pretty sure I have no battle damage.
