When my torpedo supply was expended, I'd been able to go silent and deep, creeping away until all was clear. I try to use electric torps when I have the luxury of range and time, I stay at 2kts or even go full stop to minimize detection as well as keeping the periscope up for only as long as it takes to make firing solutions. In short, I've picked up a lot of tips from reading these forums. It just seems to have gotten markedly worse very quickly and I'm not even into '43 yet. I don't mind a challenge, but I'm beginning to think it's a real "mission impossible".

After late '42 I make all my torp calculations in the day.
That means that went you attack at night, if you got your geomotry right, you only
need to raise the peri once and fire.
If the weather is calm and I get really good calculations on the convoy in the day, then
I try a attack at 4k range (steam torps).
