SH3Cmdr is a stand alnoe program. Usually people use intro screens within its random folders to add more variety when you load the game. You can always have small mods that alter the renown you get and the skins of the ships you see in game. Generally speaking you can use it to have visual (and other) effects at pre set times (dates) during the game.
