Try re-downloading the patch. It might be corrupted.
If that fails, use your game disk to perform a FULL uninstall...
Go into your Program Files/Ubisoft folder and delete any residual "SilentHunterIII" files... and delete the "SH3" folder in "My Documents."
Then reboot.
Then go through the installation process again.
(Something similar happened to me and Jimbuna once. Uninstalling with the disk removes hidden residual SH3 files and basically hits the 'reset' button for you in a manner of speaking.)
