I had exactly the same problem after saving the game and it seems to happen when you save in bad weather and the bow is pointing down. I tried again in similar weather but the bow pointing up and it loaded fine.
GWX 2.0 warns us not to save while submerged so maybe it has similar problems when you dip into a large wave as the system
thinks that you're submerged.
