I haven't had a problem with the game operation with the file either listed in the root dir or not. I don't know if this file just developed after the 1.4 patch or whether it had been there all along. It became obvious to me when it appeared right before my eyes. I think I'll take leovampire's advice and not worry about it.
But, as I look back on this thread I wish I had checked my spelling for "curious".
