err, ok.

i'm not too hot, so here we go.

when travelling long distances keep speed to between 7 - 10 kts : conserves fuel.

promote hydro guy if a promotion is available when you get back: improves his listening skills.

when you first leave port and get to deep water put your boat through the mill - test it out, everything; flak gun, deck gun, different speed settings etc, all systems that will affect your patrol; if you have sh3 commander sabotague/malfunctions enabled something may show up: so you know what to do when the sh** comes down.

(this is one of my own.) i put my hydro guy in rest quarters when not submerged - he gets the special treatment; i want him and radio guy as fit as a butchers dog. so i put a couple of fit petty officers to work instead.

make sure you've got some well trained flak/deck gunners at work. they can be right off target if they are newby's.

also, a top class watch crew: try to maintain full green bar above them. sign up a couple when in port.

at this point i have run out of ' things...'

don't lose patience aaannnddd, don't save your game underwater !!
