It is definitely worth getting. It's probably one of the best purchases I have ever made. It's much like Civ IV with an RTS portion added, but I find M2TW much easier (as in more fun, not easier dificulty) to play. I would reccomend this game to anyone.
Also, the new one Empire Total War is due out next year, Q2 I believe.
And if you need help in the game, Total War Center is a good forum for all Total War games.
