And it just runs SH4 like a dying dog, even after I tried stopping every process I could (because of the memory), and setting everything as low as I could, running 1024x768. It did get a lot better after stopping things to free memory, but the CPU and VID performance were slow.
It'll probably just frustrate you.

i have the same cpu Xp 2400+ with a 6600 gt card and 1gb of ram.
is playable, not smooth and only 10 fps in big task forces, in open seas i have a very aceptable framerates , 15-20 I think that the trick is a good graphic card and 2 gb of ram if is possible.
Now i want to buy a new 7600 gt /gs AGP card because are very cheap , about 90 € euros (more or less in $) i know that is outdated system , but after it will be a backup computer or for old games when i build a new rig .
