Assuming they are IDE drives: The one set to slave has to be connected to the middle of the ribbon cable, the Master drive should be connected to the end of it. That's probably how you have it set now since they are both working... Hmm. Being a computer tech, you've got me wondering too :hmm:.
It is potentially a BIOS issue. Not one I would try to "fix" (I still hate phlashing a BIOS). You might find out more by searching Google with your MBD model # and a "secondary IDE" slave "not recognized".
