I suppose a lot of people know this already, but I just found it out: If you want to enjoy the sea and the sky without the control panel showing at the bottom of your screen you just hit the "Del" key on the calculator at the right side of the standard Windows keyboard. It also prevents the slide in panels from the left appearing.
Very nice for enjoying a spectacular sea-sky scene
