Had this happen to me not more than two nights ago. Was trackin a task force with 3 crusiers, several merchants, and 6 DDs.

I got past the first screen and thought I had a clear shot on a crusier ... "Fire 1!" "Torpedo in the water sir!" "Hot dog! Lookie it go!" .... "WAIT! NO! NO! GET OUTTA THE WAY!!!" "Stupid damned DD!"

Well he paid the price and the whole group was alerted to my presence. Dropped to 170 and went silent and port 30 and all stop. The remaining escort motored right past me and into the area they thought I was last, and started making gysers.

"Ahead 1/3" "Starboard 30" "Periscope Depth" ...

We got him.

Sunk a couple more DDs and a merchie before skeedaddling.
