What is your desktop resolution? I can set you and everyone else up here.

First the ingredients:

There you go. These ingredients should be chosen to match how much space you want taken up by the operable whiz wheel. On my 1152 x 864 desktop I chose the 800 version, which is 800 x 600.
Step 1: right click the link of your choice, depending on desktop space and copy link location.
Step 2: clear all the dozens of junky windows you have open and right-click the desktop. Choose properties from the context menu.
Step 3: now choose (drumroll, please) desktop. Underneath the Background: combo box you'll see a Customize Desktop... button. Push it with dread and trepidation.
Step 4: Select the Web tab. Stab the New... button.
Step 5: Left-click in the Location box and press ctrl-v to paste your link. Press OK.
Step 6: Wait............ you know the routine. After it says it's synchronized you'll be back to the desktop items screen. Make sure Lock desktop items is not checked as you will have to resize the window holding the whiz wheel. Press OK. Press Ok on the Display properties window to leave you looking at a small square on your desktop which may or may not appear to hold your whiz wheel.
Step 7: resize the window holding the whiz wheel so you can see the entire thing. I went back into desktop properties and locked my desktop so I wouldn't mess my icons in front of the whiz wheel up when using the whiz wheel.
Step 8: either thank me or curse me when you find the whiz wheel is more trouble than it is worth!
This surgery was performed using Windows XP Media Edition. Vista can do the same thing with slightly different procedures. This procedure actually puts the whiz wheel on your hard drive and does not require a live link to the website. Therefore the whiz wheel works even if you're not on the Internet at the time. Is that what the doctor ordered?
