Anyone been attacked by a Gato class sub off Charleston harbour mid-1943?I was cruising on the surface when shell splashes appeared off my port bow.Looking with my Zeiss binoculars spotted a US Gato class sub shelling me.Insolent bastard trying to sink my beloved U-181,Alarmmmmm,took a hit on my forward tubes while diving.By the time my experten crew fiixed my tubes he had dived & I lost contact.
