I completely agree on all your points, Lehmann. It's more a matter of specific style rather than whether or not the music should be emotional. I found the original music had an emotional pang to it while being moody and subdued. When I hear things like the GWX music and, say, "Requiem for a Tower" which is used a lot on fan made trailers, I think of a crescendo of all out war and devastation. It'd fit perfectly on a GWX trailer with boats sinking, deck guns firing and sailors dying. I'm just nitpicky because songs like that when they imply devastation and horror but nothing is actually happning on screen. It's like someone screaming and crying for what looks like no reason.
Don't get me wrong it sounds awesome and no disrespect to the GWX team for choosing it. I sat here and listened to the whole song staring at the screen the first time I fired GWX up. I've just found myself thinking the mellow sadness of the original theme fits better for me.
