Yup, online co-op is often way more fun than dogfighting your buddy. I've done this sort of thing quite a lot with a friend on Falcon, and that is really good fun. We'd take it in turns per mission to be the element leader, which is another good one to try, as it pushes you to do a better job than your buddy did last time, and as a consequence you start getting really good at making quick tactical decisions and your SA and formation flying improves. We had baiting and shooting as a pair on Wild Weasel anti-SAM missions down to a fine art. And you do a hell of a lot better in a dogfight with a wingman that can actually fly and defend your six properly. More than anything, it gives you an appreciation of how much work both aircraft have to do to work well cooperatively as a tactical pair, especially in not losing your leader when you are the wingman!
