Actually, there are a few combination files(rare) which may not only affect your speed but also may be coupled with increased dive times. So not only will your boat be incapable of producing the desired speed but it may be sluggish in getting under. Hence the need to perform trial dives after leaving port along with all other tests. Performing an emergency dive to escape an aircraft is not the time to find that there is a problem somewhere.
