1934 -- Kiel, first officer on U-15
1936--He is assigned to Spain as assistant naval attaché.( this is where he meets and starts partying with Adolph Hitler. They get drunk one night and both take the same hooker out for a ride....contacting syphilis
1939--Gets command of U-53
1941 --Gets command of U-502
1941- Balz is courtmartialed, not for drunk and disorderly, but for getting up in front of Adolph Hitler and singing the Hoochie Woochie Battle Song
1941-- Balz is shot becuase people couldn stand hes "oooh look at me im such a good captain" and "oooh im soo good i never miss a shot"

Late 1941. Balz, in his sailings in the north atlantic, misses a shot on a lone merchant, moving slow on a clear day. many reports from crewmen says he burned his hat screaming at the top of his lungs on the afterdeck for 6 hours after finally sinking it by gunfire:rotfl: |
