When Dowly was sent to the Brig and the new thread on Ferret asked when he will return, it was shut down.
The pope thread derailed into the mess for which it was shut down. But different to the questions about Dowly, this new thread now asking why the pope thread was closed - was not shut down, although it should have been clear from the beginning where it is heading.
I fail to see the guiding principle here. I would have closed all the three threads - or none of them.
