The Yamato took at least 14 torp hits and at least 10 bomb hits before she finally went down.
THAT is why I consider it laughable that 4-6 torps can sink her in game. As for hitting critical areas...those were too well armored.
That was one of the nice things about SH1, You could pump 6 torps into a Yamato and it would just shrug them off and keep going.

BUT...the torpedo hits you are talking about are from torpedos launched by planes. Did they have the same warheads as submarine torpedoes?
The only Yamato class actually sunk by a sub was the Shinano. And she went down after three hits. BUT...that was before she was completed and had a full crew that was trained in damage control.
I do believe that sinking a Yamato with 2-4 hits sounds rather odd. I think it would cause a list, but that would be more or less all.
