Reading the release notes from the last several driver versions it's obvious Vista and the FPS/RPG games are driving the recent spate of releases. This particular release added new chipset support. As most of you have figured out, no big performance increases directed at the types of games we play in recent versions.
I don't recall any update that didn't have something in there for Half Life.

Adaptive AA has been around for a while. It's not new in this release. It's in 7-7.

Don't hold your breath on the Sun glare effect. The developers and ATI are going to have to meld minds to make that happen and I don't think either of them are interested. The game is obviously coded and optimized for NVidia and ATI is along for the ride (where only compatible features coded into the graphics engine work the same.) Is sun glare a defect in ATI drivers? I doubt it. Anyone who plays Falcon4 or Fight Simulator will have to admit they see plenty of sun glare in those games on ATI cards. There's no doubt in my mind the devs aren't interested in changing the code that renders that effect in the way the ATI cards will respond to it. I don't spend any time staring at the sun so I couldn't care less if that feature is there or not. After all, it's a photo lense effect, not a real world effect.
