If you reward it every time when it is fulfilled, you make it a service then. Which is not what "duty" is about.

I suspect recruitment levels would be very low if all you had to offer was a sense of
duty. If you don't reward duty with a pay check then you don't get duty!
Unless of course........(Must be a German thing!)
