I have used GWX on a laptop (Pentium 3.3GHz, 512MB RAM, ATI 128MR Graphics Card) without serious problems. I was able to play without any problem and without lowering the graphical level of the game. The only area where I had issues was when loads of ships were in the vicinity and the game was a bit slow.
Now though with the new computer I bought I can load GWX in less than 20 seconds
