I had same trouble with SH3 after installing graphics driver which came with my nVidia card. Had a lot of trouble but eventually downloaded an updated driver . Fixed! Even if you have to install an older driver don't worry. My nVidia 6600 card works very well with either 93.71 or 162.18 drivers (windows xp ). Good luck but it's only the video drivers doing it, relax. Sorry forgot to add that I've never had this problem with SH4.
