Thanks for the suggestions. I tried WAC but unfortunately my machine can barely handle it.
For clarity, I'll say once more: I don't have "that much" problems with GWX - on the contrary, I've sung its praises on several occasions. This is a minor problem that I wanted to fix myself, which is why I started the thread. I just didn't appreciate being flamed by the GWX crew for doing so.
