They have totally flubbed up BioShock with SecureROM, making it a candidate for the worst game release in history. They said they were making a patch to remove SecureROM from BioShock, but I haven't seen it yet. I do see a crack to remove the SecureROM, but I still don't think I want to purchase BioShock until I get something official. To do otherwise is to support this sort of garbage. Now I'm rambling....

Not at all. I have the exact same feelings regarding intrusive copy protection schemes.
It took me 2 years to finally buy SH 3, that is until they released a non starforce official version.
I sadly passed over Bioshock because of the "activation" scheme.
If I buy a product, I'm entitled to install it as many times as I want to, even 10 years from now.
Something that with the present copy protection is not possibile.
How hard is it to learn from Stardock, or from THQ who released COH without copy protection.
Or even Supreme Commander whose copy protection was officially eliminated after some patches.
Same thing with Epic and Id games.
I find it a nonsense to piss off your legitimate customers, you know the guys that actually spend those 40-50$ to buy the game.
