Unforunately I don't have any pictures of her just a description by one of the officers that served on her. Tokyo Rose refered to a 'red pirate submarine'. The book says:
'The reason we know that she [Tokyo Rose] calls the Dragon a red submarine.....is because all the black paint topside washes off quickly after the Dragon gets to sea and the red lead used for priming the hull is all thats left as a covering. In a couple of days the Dragon will look like hell. The Canopus at Manila had done a hasty and rotten job repainting the Dragon'
'The last time I'd had a good look at the conning tower and shears of the Draon in bright moonlight it was evident that all of her black paint had washed off and hence she actually was a "red submarine"'
Don't know how much of a help that is, its from
War In The Boats by William J Ruhe. I thought it would be an interesting idea for a skin to try as there was only about 4 different camo measures used by US subs during the war so there isn't the variety you get with U boats. Would be cool to go on patrol in the 'Red Dragon'.
Don't worry about taking your time you know what they say, 'good things come to those who wait'! Your skins are always well worth the wait!
