Thanks Switch, that clears it up for me.

I've opted for the Trigger Maru mod. Removed the Real Fleat Mod entirely so as not to cause any conflicts .

Loving every minute of it, been sailing for hours now since I don't have to beat my head against the friendly contact annoyances anymore, now that I start out of base. Thanks for your help guys, great community here I can see already .

Had a great patrol earlier...

report...

Came upon a massive convoy earlier, several battleships, and a pletorah of destroyers and a few merchant vessels, no doubt carrying supplies.

Managed to sneak up on it from a 90 degree angle out of the black waters of the night. Fired off four torpedos against a battleship with manual targetting. They all hit causing massive damage to it. Soon enough the battleship was listing starboard with the front decks almost awash. I turned the sub around and fired one more torp, it streaked across the dark waters but missed the stern by but a few feet. I kicked myself for not firing more, guess it's the burden of being a new captain trying to safe torpedos, never again. By the time I realized my mistake the battleship had moved behind a shield of ships, so I was unable to reach it.

Meanwhile the rogue torpedo continued onwards on its journey into the heart of the convoy. I saw it approach another battleship but didn't think much of it seeing as it was only one torpedo it wouldn't make much differnence even if it hit, it would just be a missed shot that would have been better put into the hull of the other battleship.

Then suddenly it hits, sending roaring eruptive sounds across the waves as it slams into the middle of the battleship, igniting it's ammo depot! The battleship was consumed in flames within seconds and exploded from inside, sending massive pieces of metal and guns flying through the sky. Only to be swallowed by the sea as gravity decided to play its part. The battleship broke up and went off to Davy Jones locker with all aboard sadly. But it was a great victory, if a lucky one.

We tried following the convoy to finish the job on the first battleship, but simply couldn't keep up submerged, nor could we surface due to the escort ships that were at this point frantically searching for me and my men.

After a few hours sailing east from where we crossed paths with the southbound convoy, we once again surfaced and breathed the cool fresh ocean air.
With night as cover we managed to slink away and with a great victory at hand we were greeted as heroes when we finally made it back to Pearl Harbour.
