Two MAJOR problems with this approach:
1. It condones bandaids and IS merely putting off the inevitable;
2. The nature of LZMA compression means that, unlike in a zip file, once one file is corrupt, all subsequent files cannot be accessed. In other words, he hits ignore on this file, he'll then get the same error message on the next file, then the next, then the next, then 1,500 files later...CTD!
So, rather than try to
bandaid the problem, Herr_Pete needs to re d/l the corrupted bin file from scratch and use an MD5 compare programme (such as the free one from my site) to validate the file integrity *before* installing. Otherwise, it's too late and he's guaranteed to have to start all over again.
Sorry, I just loathe the continued "just delete the file/ignore the error" responses that are thrown up so frequently on this forum whenever users have install problems. All doing so does is move the problem further down the line, and harder to find to cause.
