I have had that mission come up three times (and also repeats of a similar mission for Rabaul- damn the repeat mission bug!) Here's how I have completed it.
I approach the area where I know the submarine net is at periscope depth. I wait until complete darkness and until the patrolling Destroyers are well away from my position, then I surface my boat, run at full speed for 1/2 mile or so, then submerge again (but only to 50 feet because it is very shallow). When I get to the marker for the mission I snap the necessary photos, destroy the carrier(s) if I am so inclined, and then surface and hightail my butt at top speed to deeper water. |
Sounds like a good idea kepper! I'll try it out when I get such a mission again.
