(After first reducing the eng_power to 600 without changing the max_speed I had a top submerged speed of about 15 knots.)
Now this is interesting, after starting a new game my speed has dropped to 5,3 knots. Apparently the problem of the ingame maximumspeed being affected by both max_speed AND eng_power was caused by something stored in the savegame.
I always delete the "SH4" folder with it's subfolders in "My Documents". In other words, where your save files are located. I do this to insure any changes I've made are used by the game next time I boot it up. It is like starting SH 4 for the first time and it will write the folder you just deleted. You should not use a save game file as it will use your old settings and might even get all messsed up trying to use both. Most say that if you are in port it is OK. My experience tells me that most times this is true but sometimes it just messes everything up. I think it depends on what files you have changed.
