On the internet I have come across one source which set the underwater endurance to 100 nm at 5 kts.
My attempts to reach 20 hrs endurance at 5 knots has failed.
The s-18 and s-42 had two 750 hp electric engines which equals a total of 1500 hp.
I now have the s-42 going about 12 hrs at 4 knots to 10% battery left. It is taking about 13.5 hours to recharge at 2/3 speed setting with the .cfg file modded to be 0.44 power at 2/3 speed. I have it heavily modded to do this.
To get it to charge faster lower the electric RPM value.
Do not use 100nm at 5 kts. Use 80nm at 4 kts. If you use a higher endurance speed it takes a lot longer to recharge and reduces your endurance at 4 kts.
Try 250 RPM; 1500 hp; 80nm at 4kts. You may have to reduce the underwater drag value also.
I will continue my experiments using a 3kt electric endurance speed and try different values for the distance. It appears the lower the endurance speed setting the faster it charges also. It's probably charging too fast right now (13.5 hrs). I will experiment with different combinations of RPM and endurance values.
I am trying to obtain about 20 hours running at 4 kts.
The best so far has been 14 hrs at 4 kts but took about 24 hrs to recharge from 10% battery power left.
Anyone have any Idea what a realistic charging time is for a battery with only 10% charge left?
