this may be help

Based on a suggestion from other skippers here I tried to circumvent the one engine damaged all engines dead syndrom of this sim. I increased the hitpoint for the diesles to 4 times the currentl amount, and likewise for the electric motors. I did twice the amount increase for the propellers and shafts.

I was in a sugar boat and got deph charged quite badly and took damage to my electrics, when I heard the report that the motors were damaged I was ready to see the speed drop to zero, and the hum of the motors to stop. Well the hum of the motors did stop, and my speed began to drop from 5kts, to 3kts, but stopped dropping after that. When I got a chance I checked the damage screen and saw that one motor was shown as destroyed, but the other had no damage. My boat was not knocked out, and actually made it back to base after evading the destroyer.

It would seem the number of engines taken out is based on a cumilative formula. Perhaps this is how it works for the electrics of a S boat.

Health points of electrics = 4000
damage inflicted = 100hp = both motors operational, one not so well.
damage inflicted = 2000hp = one motor destroyed, the other perking along
Damage inflicted = 3000hp = one destroyed, the other not at all well.
damage inflicted = 4000hp = both motors FUBAR, boat dead in the water.

I think this is how my change has effected the game, thus giving you pseudo multiengine.

Can others confirm this?
