Looks like you'll be waiting longer than you think. im afraid...
SP1 for Vista probably won't be available untill sometime in '09, at the earliest.

I was figuring November-December based on this report but it's really no biggie if it takes longer. I've spent almost 20 years learning to wait for MS to fix it's mistakes so I'm used to it.
