This is the kind of crap I have to put up with whenever I do art direction for any council or government projects I produce artwork for. It's all 'Oooh, you must have a black person in that group shot, and a person in a wheelchair, and a lesbian single parent sperm whale etc, etc.'
Those of you who saw my WestWind promo joke movie will note that I even let this kind of bollox influence me on that, with one of the airline pilots being a negro, and I did that pretty much without conciously thinking about it.
It should have occurred to the advertisers I think, but then again, those who complain about this sort of thing need to go and find something better to do, it's not racist, it's just ill-advised. Unless Intel are replacing their Intel Inside slogan with Sieg Heil or something.
