For myself; don't get caught in a position like this.
Dive, dive, dive.
It's explained in the die slow thread, as it is now, the damage can be modded more realistic, but the DD becomes very hard to sink with torpedoes if it's to be strong enough to damage a sub by ramming it.
Personally I think the priority should be to model the DD's as so the torpedo hit is the most common cause of damage in trying to find a balance and not by solving this problem through strengthening of the bow.
