Oriiginally I set the fuel to what was most likey the closest fuel setting the lead boat of a given class was. Most hover around 12,000 NM @ 10 kts, give or take a few hundred NM.

Later on i increased that slightly by making it (Historical range) @ 10.95 kts, which in effect added 1000 to 2000 more NM onto your range, higher then what is listed historically, but less then stock.

Stock fuel settings are 15,000 NM @ 10 kts for all boats except S class and porpoise i think. In TM's support directory theres an optional mod that has boats with stock fuel ranges. If you need more fuel then that, well i cant help ya except to point you to TT's tweaker so you can adjust the submarines sim files to your liking.

edit: Just FYI, optimum cruising speed is at ahead 2/3rds. If your putting along at 1/3rd your actually wating fuel and shortening your range.
