Is has something to do with saving, you should never save a game in combat. If you see an enemy, save the game, attack it, wait until it sinks, get the credit, save again. Not in between.
This error is driving me mad, too!

Does this really explain Easty's issue though? I can understand what you are saying happening if you save between hitting the target with a torp and getting the "She's going down" message. But I think what Easty is saying is that he sunk a liner, got the credit, then another liner appeared and he sunk that but didn't get the credit. Whether there were any saves made during the action is not clear, perhaps Easty can clarify. As mentioned earlier, from reading the SH4 forum, similar things happen in that sim i.e. ghost ships occur on a regular basis, perhaps SH3 has a similar issue but only occurs rarely. Perhaps others would like to comment.
