And yes, the Luftwaffe boys can be very selfish and hard to understand. When you have many ships in sight and you are ready to bag them they show up, but in the other hand, when you send a report to ask for their help, they just decide they are too busy somewhere else.

i once went to Portland (i think). when arriving there was no activity... set all torpedo's on a good deapth and opened the tubes... after firing tube one i heard banging all over the place
DD's shooting, Flaks rattling, bombs dropping, explosions, etc...
what coused that ? a fleet of JU-88's
and they bombed the target i sended a torpedo to
a few patrols later.
getting attacked by a "Hunt and destroy" group... sended a S.O.S. and started battling...
5 hours later: the group's last ships go's down and what to see ? NOTHING! a hour later... 1 JU-88
