Same, here.
I'd read (in another post, IIRC), that this just removes the
check for the DVD. IE., the DVD is still needed to prevent the "Fade" protection scheme from breaking the game after you've played it for a while. It just doesn't check for the DVD first, anymore.
If so, this inclusion of the "no DVD check" might be accidental, in the same way the periscope animations broke in this patch.
