Very likely true. However, I don't think it will spawn a DD, it would simply bring down some planes on you from a nearby airbase. In any event, pretend you got sighted by a pretend sampan and had to make a pretend crash dive to avoid getting bombed by a couple of make-believe Emily's and your all set.
