The vanilla is Silent Hunter 3 Noob version. Its a noob version if your playing GWX. SH3 noob or vanilla should be recommended to new players to stick with it for at least 2 months then change over to GWX to many times i see a noob come on first time player asking for help and were all going "Install GWX
