Was given a photo recon of "Carrier group in Palu"
OMG I thought, its suicide, hell I dont even know how they get a carrier in there its so shallow !
But we went for it anyhow.
Creeping in towards the harbor in broad daylight @ 1:00 pm at around 100 foot depth keeping track of the pickets which more than once passed directly overhead.
Eventually the pickets (three of them) patterns took them all a fair distance from me so we ordered periscope depth and popped up the O scope for a quick peek around. I scanned the horizion when I saw much to my supprise a Carrier way in the distance parked in the shallows. I clicked off one 1 1 1
! photo of the Carrier and got a mission complete.
We immediatly reversed course went back down to 100 feet and creeped back out. We never even got into the shallows and had pulled it off !
