I support the Kurds before Turkey. Don't like the PKK bombings, but that is how islamic warfare is waged.
Turkey is an "ally" because of all the pipelines that run through it. Their population is headed for fundamentalism, whether their army protests or not. It couldn't handle a Turkish military dictatorship because Lebanon and Syria and Iran would be right the heck up in there with jihadists.
Although, I'm not entirely sure that Kurdistan would not eventually become fundamentalist. It's reasonably sectarian right now but that entire area is a land of gangs and clans.
