Edit: why am i just now starting GWX, well one i just got broadband a few weeks ago and 2) ive been playing SH4 since it came out, thought for a bit of atlantic fix i'll try out this GWX.

You can use SH3 Commander to change the water opacity. Great program there with lots of extra options to increase immersion.
