Wait and learn. For Sarkozy, first comes France. Then comes Europe. And then - if the situation allows - America. For Russia, and Turkey, he has extremely limited sympathy. I would caution every American to have high expectations here. He will agree on more compromises that do not really hurt him, but where it comes to French core interests, he will not act much different than we have seen in the past years. Maybe he will act even tougher.
Just consider this: the more EU member there are, and the more American influence there is - the lesser influence is left for France. But France is top of his agenda, he is known to be a burning patriot and admirer of France's glory and past. Ehem - conclusions, anyone...?
