If you do any changes, upgrades, to your boat before the first patrol this is often the result, sorry. Sometimes you get this zero renown thing after first patrol even without making any changes at all, inc. crew.
I always do a short sea trial of the first patrol in new careers, just go some 50km. out and then return to base. Then I do whatever changes I want before the second patrol.

Thanks very much for the reply. I did upgrade before my 1st patrol, had around 500 renown left out of 1500. I've seen this bug mentioned before but never thought it would happen to me.
Also there were no crew medals or promotions available afterwards, just one one crew station award available.
Damn, spent 3 hours real time sneaking in and out of Madras. What a waste of time!
