I play DID so I don't do that.
As an experienced Kaleun, with 4 careers so far
, I only use impact pistol and shot the torp from a close range (less then 1000 m, I try to get as close as 400 m to a target), from 80-90 degree angle to guarantee a hit and explosion.
I don't have dud torp whenever I do this. In my previous careers, several times I had dud torps. Not sure if it was dud or because the torps hit the ship from a sharp angle and just bounced off the hull.
