I just wanted to say fair winds and following seas to all of us german sub commanders out there (and the american's in the pacific as well). I have had Silent Hunter III for about a year but I never really got into it. I bought Silent Hunter IV to find myself playing an incomplete game. I felt this franchise had so much promise, and the games were so close to being great. Then I discover this website. I discover the GWX expansion, and now i am in love with this game. I just wanted to thank you all for giving some awesome advice, this forum is like a treasure cove, and introducing me to the wonders of GWX.
While you all are fighting the fight on your desktops, I was fighting the fight over in the North Arabian Gulf. I am stationed on the USS Leyte Gulf CG-55, it's a ticonderoga class cruiser homeport Norfolk, VA. I was on a 7 month deployment in support of Afghanistan and Iraq operations with the USS Enterprise. We dropped a ton of ordnance over there
Thanks again for the great tips, you really made this game enjoyable for me! I still remember the first time I successfully set up a manual firing solution at a 100% realistic, to see a perfect shot right under the smoke stack and the preceding sounds of inner explostions as the ship slowly blew itself apart. Amazing experience!
